API Code Inspections
AIS provides a wide variety of API inspectors to help you with your inspection needs. Whether it be T/A or Shutdown, a rebuild, a repair, or new construction, AIS can help by providing qualified API inspectors to cover your requirements. AIS code inspectors are available for long-term contract in-house inspection services as well as some call out and short term projects. Vessels, piping systems, tanks, as well as QUTE ultrasonic inspectors are available to help with your next project.

API 510 Code Inspections for Pressure Vessels
This inspection code covers the in-service inspection, repair, alteration, and rerating activities for pressure vessels and the pressure-relieving devices protecting these vessels. This inspection code applies to all refining and chemical process vessels that have been placed in service unless specifically excluded per 1.2.2.
API 570 Code Inspections for Piping Systems
API 570 was developed for the petroleum refining and chemical process industries but may be used, where practical, for any piping system. It is intended for use by organizations that maintain or have access to an authorized inspection agency, a repair organization, and technically qualified piping engineers, inspectors, and examiners, all as defined in Section 3.
API 653 Code Inspection of Above Ground Tanks
This standard covers steel storage tanks built to API 650 and its predecessor API 12C. It provides minimum requirements for maintaining the integrity of such tanks after they have been placed in service and addresses inspection, repair, alteration, relocation, and reconstruction.
Ultrasonic Shearwave Angle Beam Weld Inspection (QUTE)
Uses Of Shearwave
- In-Service Weld Examinations
- Crack Location and Sizing
- Weld Manufacturing Defects
- Nozzle and Vessel Manufacture Monitoring
- AUT Applications
Overview
The AIS UT shearwave technicians use shearwave equipment coupled with advanced training to provide angle beam inspection capabilities. Both newly manufactured and in-service welds can be examined for defects and anomalies that may cause failure of the weld during normal operating conditions. API QUTE qualified inspectors are used for most shearwave examinations ensuring the technician has been properly trained and qualified to an industry standard. Angle beam inspections can also be applied to automated equipment that allows for digitally recorded data to be collected and examined for monitoring and repeatability. Results are recorded and reported in a format that the user can easily identify and understand.
